Oven Control Panel and Knobs: Cleaning Without Killing the Electronics

Knobs
Turn every knob to OFF before taking it off, pull it straight off its stem, and wash it in detergent and warm water without soaking. Dry it completely, inside and out, then push it firmly back on.
The fascia
Viking’s instruction for the control panel is hot soapy water and a soft, clean cloth, with no ammonia or abrasive cleaner, because those remove the graphics. Put any cleaner on the cloth rather than the panel: liquid that runs down behind a knob or a key reaches switches and wiring. Stainless round it is covered under stainless steel near the Sound.
Dead after cleaning
Give the panel time to dry with the oven off, then check the breaker. If it is still dead, leave the fascia alone: taking a control panel off starts with the power shut off and belongs to the technician.
